About Us

You CAN make a difference! Become a foster care or child care provider!

Foster care and child care licensing is the process by which individuals or families are assessed, trained, and approved by the child welfare agency to provide safe homes in the community.

Foster care is about helping children and families in need. As a foster care provider, you will help children learn there are caring, stable, and reliable adults there for them.

Child Care is about ensuring that children are cared for in quality, safe, nurturing and culturally responsive settings and, to help parents find a licensed provider to entrust the care of their children.

The Foster Care and Child Care Licensing Unit focuses on the development of new resources, training, support, and retention of existing foster families and child care homes.

The Scott County Licensing Unit is dedicated to being a support and resource to the licensed foster care and child care homes in Scott County. We want to partner with you to become a care provider so you can meet the needs of the children in your home.

Contact us by calling 952-445-7751 and ask to speak with a licensing worker. We would LOVE the opportunity to answer questions about our foster care or child care programs. If you are not able to become a licensed foster parent or child care home, we can help you explore ways you can support current foster parents or child care homes!

It takes a village to support families in need. We would love for you to become a part of that village!
