About Us

Our mission:
Putting good humans into the world and leaving the world better than we found it.

The Montessori Curriculum
Montessori is a child-centered, individualized approach to learning that respects and nurtures the child's innate curiosity and desire for independence. Children naturally find joy in discovery. We support this natural process by providng children with freedom to choose activities based on their developmental readiness and interests. The hands-on materials (self-instructing and self-correcting in nature) allow the child to be taught by experience and observation, helping the child develop self-confidence. They also develop conscientiousness, as they learn in a collaborative community.

Teachers
Not only are our teachers positive, nurturing, and fun, but they meet all state and company education requirements, maintain ongoing professional development annually and, where applicable, hold Montessori credentials. All staff go through a lengthy onboarding process that covers early childhood development, the history and philosophy of the Montessori method, and practical classroom training with a mentor teacher.

Enrichment
We offer a range of enrichment activities during the school day, giving your child meaningful learning experiences while allowing you to enjoy more relaxed evenings and weekends together. Offerings vary by location and may include: on-site field trips, sports, music, second language classes, and more.

Our Background
Sonnet Montessori began serving Minnesota families in 2006 with a commitment to educating children ages 3–6 through the Montessori philosophy in a warm, secure, and nurturing environment. In 2021, Sonnet Montessori joined the Yellow Brick Road Early Childhood Development Center family. Guided by a leadership team with more than a century of combined early-childhood expertise, the schools continued to flourish with locations in Minnesota and Iowa.
